Ridge Quilter's Guild Show

The above photos are just a few of the many quilts that were displayed at the show. These just happen to catch my eye. The bottom photo is of me and my friend Sharon.

How can I put it nicely.....the quilts were nice and the members were very nice. Would I do this show again...probably not. I suppose I will have to blame it on the economy. I don't think people realize how much time and effort goes into setting up a booth for a show. Also, it's my personal feeling that Guild members need to support the vendors. The booth fee that we as vendors pay enables the Guild to hold their show. It's our money that pays for the facility. The lesson here is that you have to take the good with the bad. Even though the show was not profitable, I was able to see a new part of our State that I probably would never have seen if it hadn't been for the show. I was able to network with other vendors, visit with vendors/friends that do a lot of the same shows and meet new vendors.

One great thing about today was that I was able to visit with my long time friend, Sharon who lives in Grass Valley. We worked together at Quilter's Paradise in Clovis, CA many moons ago. Seeing her made it all worth the trip!

Paradise, CA

I think of every new show as an adventure. Thank goodness for the GPS because I had no idea where I was going. It seemed like I drove and drove forever out in the middle of nowhere. I was sort of worried because I never saw signs to this place. I drove through towns like Marysville and Oroville, but no signs for Paradise. I knew I was getting close according to the GPS. Finally, AFTER I made a left turn off Highway 70 like the GPS said to do did I see a sign that read Paradise, 11 miles.

The entire time I was on the road, I was annoyed about having to take instructions from a woman and asking myself, why can't they have a man's voice. I should be given that option. Right? After thinking about it some more, I certainly do NOT need or WANT a man telling me what to do or where to go. I feel like I am between a rock and a hard place. I guess I should be glad with what I have and that this devise gets me to where I want to go.

Set-up went fairly smooth. More about the quilt show tomorrow.

Dinner was at Annie's Cafe. I had their special which was clam chowder, salad, prime rib, baked potato and garlic bread. All for $11.95. The glass of wine bumped the total up another $3.00. I think I may go back there for breakfast. They have tri-tip, 2 eggs and home fries for $3.99. What a deal!

My Buddy Jake

This is my buddy Jake. To Jake, I am the Carrot Lady. He loves his carrots. It's like candy to him. He is a 17 year old miniature horse and stands 32 inches high. Hee,hee, little does he know that I have great plans for him. When the grandkids arrive, he will have his work cut out for him.

August Event

Boy, do I feel like a Slacker! Has it been that long since I last posted something on my Blog? Well, it's time to shape up and be a better blogger. Like they say "Time flies when you are having fun. Since last November, I have been busy with teaching quilting at the Clovis Adult School and attending quilt shows. Being a vendor at these shows have taken me to many places like Phoenix, AZ, Folsom (the town, not the prison), San Mateo, Clovis (really far), Las Vegas, NV, Sacramento, Oakland, Sandy, UT, Santa Rosa, and Long Beach, CA.

This month I have a quilt show in Paradise! That's Paradise, California on August 14th and 15th. It will be held at the Paradise Intermediate School located at 5665 Recreation Drive.

Paradise, CA is home to about 27,000 people nestled in the foothills of Northern California's Sierra Nevada Mountains.
